Castelli Sorpasso Cycling Bib Tight
The Sorpasso tight has found fame with a great fit along with exceptional comfort down to very cold temperatures or even when the thermometer rises. The secret to the fit is the mixture of Thermoflex Core Due along with standard Thermoflex that allows just enough stretch, but with enough support to keep everything in place. The wide temperature range is thanks to the inner layer of Thermoflex Cure Due with hollow-core polyester for great moisture management and insulation. With the Progetto X2 Air seat pad, Giro++ bib straps, and camlock ankle zips with reflective overlays, the Sorpasso will be the centre-piece of you winter cycling wardrobe.
  • Thermoflex and Thermoflex Core Due fabric
  • Giro++ seamless straps on bib
  • Giro3 ankle grippers position the tight and seal around shoecover
  • YKK® Ankle Camlock zippers with reflective tape for high visibility
  • Progetto X2 Air Seatpad
  • Temperature range: 0°C - +15°C

Castelli Size Charts

Excellent soft material and comfort, kept warm from early morning 0-10C of winter weather really well. Recommended!
Bit the bullet and got these on sale. Castelli should change their name to QUALITY as that is what these tights are in every respect. A super comfortable pad (thought the kiss pad was good until I got these) the progetto pad is in another league. The straps could do with some edging but that is a small gripe. Time will tell how they wear. These tights are warm even down to 4 degrees
Very good quality, the X 2 pad is the best on the market for me.You can ride for hours in these tights . Quite stretchy so managed to get into a small just. I'm 5'5" 62kg. Good for the all day riding in British winter.
Super bibs, nice and warm. Perfect for rides in late fall here in New England.. +100 for Merlin people. Awesome price and super fast delivery.
Comfortable, warm, good fit. Very happy.
Fit great I am 169 cm, 81 kg and large fit perfect
These have got to be one of the most comfy bib tights I have worn. So far they have kept out the cold and I have been in a few rain showers but still felt dry.
Bought one pair, loved em so much I bought two more - especially at the sale price. Warm (worn at 2C), well made, comfortable pad (not quite as good as the Assos Mille - but half the price so all good.
Got this while on sale, looks good and its race fit so if you don't have a race fit shape then size up to save the hassle. People mention the straps are thin and fiddly, I can see how it can be an issue if someone is in a rush dressing and putting gear on but just needs a bit care and its fine. Overall a very good looking item but i haven't ridden in it yet as I purchased this at the height of summer so I can't comment on the performance while on a bike, refer to other reviews for that.
Fit well, nice and snug. I have Castelli shorts with the same Progetto X2-Air chamois pad and I will not try any other type. I'd give it 5 stars but I haven't tried it out in the cold.
So good I bought a second pair. For the last two years I've been using the previous model Rapha tights that have no pad in them and fit over their pro shorts. It's a hassle and uncomfortable for ride breaks. The Castelli Sorpasso tights are a revelation in convenience, but more than that are warm and comfortable. The ankles have the tacky strip that stop them riding up and the ankle zippers mean getting into and out of them is a breeze. The shoulder straps are made from a thiner tackier material than most I've seen. It takes some getting used to, but in no way are they inferior. I paired these with the Mortirolo Jacket and the haven't looked back. As a winter ensemble for where I live in Sydney it's just about perfect. Cold here is 6 - 8
This is the second pair of these Bib Tights which I have bought and they are fantastic. They have kept my legs warm and dry with temperatures down to -7. They are not cheap however you do get excellent quality.
Fantastic purchase. Warm, comfortable, first class chamois-Castelli...enough said.
Excellent Bib Tights, now have two pairs, would recommend these but go up a size I'm a medium in most things and large fit me just right 5'11 and 66kg.
Great tights 6'2" 12st 10lb Large is good snug fit
I love these toghts and own 3 pairs for Winter now. Sizing is true to the chart I think, so check first. Very warm & very technical Bib Tights - 10/10.
Fantastic, 6ft and 11.9 stone size, large fitted perfectly...... Went for a 60 mile first ride in 3-5c temp and they felt great, tight and supportive also.... Would recommend to anyone
Great quality bib-tights at a good price. Normally take Medium in Bib-shorts but went for Large with the tights and fitted perfectly.
A very good product and excellently made, typical Italien style & detail. Good fit and excellent chamois. One slight negative, not warm for enough for extreme Scottish weather; anything around zero and my Assos bib-tights are warmer & more water-repellant. Great for 5+C or warmer.
Love these. They fit in all the right places. The zippers at the bottom are very useful as well. The seams on the inside are quite thick however which isn't really a big deal. They leave lines on the legs when you take them off but hardly noticeable on the rides. These work great from temps 3 - 12 C in my opinion. The liner is fantastic and feels great even after 100 km. The straps are narrow though and are hard to keep smooth against the body. I'm also seeign the logo cracking and wearing after a few washes. But all in all at the great sale price these are fantastic!
Excellent quality, with a great pad. The straps are super comfortable and the warmth is very welcome in these cold winter months. The sizing is quite small still, so order a size above you would normally, in my opinion. Great service yet again from Merlin, fast, efficient & well communicated. Delivered quickly, and well packaged.
Excellent service from Merlin Cycles. Quality item which kept me warm despite the wintry weather threw at me on the first outing. Good fit with comfortable seat pad
Great looking bibs but as usual with Castelli sizing is a little odd. I normally spec large in my cycling kit but with these I needed 2XL which fit a 'little' big, im 5'8" 32" waist and more Chris Hoy than Froome legs. They are warm but no more so than my dhb ones costing half the amount but the quality is extremely high, the pad is very good indeed and of course...they look fab being Castelli. At the end of the day they look great and work well but you can get the same performance for less but sometimes its just nice to have some 'proper' kit to wear ;-)
Its amazing how warm these are for so little bulk. Not convinced about the ankle zips but these are a quality product; at a price. Prompt delivery from Merlin as usual
Excellent product - v comfortable but needed to go 2 sizes up on sizing chart recommendation
My second pair. I've tried loads of different makes, incuding the most expensive ones. Sorpassos beat them all. Warm and very comfortable, including the pad. Typical Italian sizing - you need to go up a size.
Warm, comfortable and looks great. Perfect bib tights for winter.
Very good and comfortable tights and the pad is excellent. Size L and 182cm/87kg.
Great product. Perfect for commuting in a Cold Sweden.
I just wore this the other day and it went very well on a 90+k ride, comfortable and warm without being overly hot. I am 190cm so got the xxl, which fit very well. Very happy with these.
Good tights, warm, but a little small for the size, order the next one up if in any doubt.
Castelli sizing can be odd. Or at least other reviews can give that impression. Most say to size up but others say follow the sizing chart. Yes and no. I'm not oddly shaped by any stretch of the imagination, but I fit an XXL in Castelli bibs (where the waist sizing is larger than my own) , yet a XL in Castelli jackets and tops (where the chest sizing is just about even). These bibtights fit beautifully. The shoulder straps don't appear substantial but it is Castelli rosso corsa so one must have faith. Construction is fantastic and the fabric is extremely warm. Unfortunately, currently in the midst of a southern hemisphere summer, so will be a wee while before I get to use them in anger. Looks wise, these a very very cool. Quite possibly the best looking bibtights out there. If I have a gripe, it's with the logo down the leg, which looks to be the same stuff they used on the nano-flex leg/arm warmers. So that may start to peel off after a short while. That wouldn't impact functionality, only looks.
Great pair of bib tights. Top quality from Castelli. Size is correct if you go by the size guide. I'm 6ft and 81kg 34inch waist, large is a perfect fit, I first ordered XL but the pad was uncomfortable, the tight is made to hold muscle firm and reduce fatigue, it does a great job. Exellent price from Merlin as always.
Another great bit of kit from Castelli. Great seat pad and fantastic comfort / warmth at around 6 degrees Celsius on Dartmoor. OK the fit, well I am 5ft 10in, inside leg 32in, waist 35in and chest is 44in the bibtight size is an XL and is the best fitting bib tight I have owned.
Being a firm believer in "you buy cheap you buy twice" my pre-purchase research led me to these. So far I've only worn them at temperatures between 8 and 13 degrees, and they were great at either end of that spectrum. The material is of the highest quality and fit is excellent - I'm usually a small, and was worried I might need a medium given Castelli's reputation for coming up small. However, I went on my previous experience of their bib-shorts and ordered small. Perfect I'd say... at first I was concerned that where the material stretches the red 'underlay' shows through the black (like on the knees) but I read others mention it in other reviews, so guess it's not happening because they're too small. I just hope the logo's stay put... unlike those on my shorts!
