Eddy Merckx Blockhaus 67 Road Bike – Shimano Tiagra Drivetrain

The Eddy Merckx Blockhaus 67 road bike is made from super-light (1,150 grams) aluminium and is matched with a light, compliant carbon fork weighing only 360 grams. Eddy Merckx Cycles has a rich history as an aluminum frame builder and recognises the benefits of a simple, lightweight modern alloy frame. With aluminium enjoying somewhat of a resurgence over the last few seasons thanks to its stiff, responsive properties and more affordable pricing the Blockhaus reinforces this trend with a really competitive bike at a great price.

The Blockhaus 67 truly combines outstanding stiffness-to-weight values with great comfort and compliance thanks to its carbon fork and rider-friendly geometry. Perfect for longer, hilly rides it makes a capable lightweight climber that also stands up to hard knocks at your local crit race.

The Eddy Merckx Blockhaus 67 features an Eddy Merckx Alloy 6069 TB frame with clean internal gear cable routing in the down tube, a super-light & compliant Eddy Merckx Carbon Monocoque fork and a very capable, precise-shifting Shimano Tiagra 4700 10 speed groupset giving you clean, crisp and predictable gear shifting even when you’re out of the saddle. A durable, responsive Shimano RS501 wheelset and Deda components completes this value-for-money package.

General information about our shipping
Strengths: Extremely responsive and fun bicycle. It responds to your input immediately and this is true for both acceleration in/out of saddle and steering input. Remains very stable on rough surfaces as well. I have a reasonable amount of flexibility in my spine and the saddle that the bicycle comes with is really comfortable, which was a happy surprise for me. It goes without saying that the full tiagra groupset is pretty good and at this price almost impossible to find. Weakness: The cockpit (even though a Deda finish) isn't the best. It's almost like the bicycle has a dual personality. At the back it is reasonably compliant (for an aluminium bicycle), but in the front the same hit feels a lot worse. The Tiagra brakes leave much to be desired and would be the only thing I would change to a 105. Overall, this bicycle isn't going to ride like a higher end carbon bicycle. But it is a very very good bicycle. IMHO, with the price drop on this bicycle, it will be impossible to find a bicycle which is as fun to ride as this one.
Excellent light weight frame and spec bike for the money, a true bargain. The bike was for my wife who loves it and is now beating everyone up the hills. The only problem is I am now very jealous and want one too ....Many thanks.
