Merlin Wear Sport Thermal Cycling Jacket
Stop the wind from chilling you to the bone with this exceptional jacket. The main body of this jacket is made from a fabric that has a wind-blocking polyurethane membrane within it.
To further help cut out the wind the cuffs are extended and specially shaped to prevent breezes from entering the jacket at that most vulnerable of entry points.
To help the garment fit well and to improve breathability we’ve used a secondary fabric in strategic locations. Both of these fabrics are lightly fleece lined so you can be sure of a cosy and comfy feel next the skin.
- Wind stopping polyurethane membrane in the main fabric.
- Tailored arms and drop lower tail for perfect on-bike fit.
- Full length flexible zip.
- Three rear pockets plus an additional zipped security pocket.
- Subtle but effective reflective detailing.
- Elasticated waist with silicon gripper.
- Chest side-pockets also double up as vents if required.

This jacket is simply amazing. Very good fit, tasteful minimalist design, functionally superb, and just overall great value for money. I have ridden it now on several occasions here as fall transitions into winter and it has served me well. It blocks the tyrannical Chicago wind well, and the fleece keeps me warm. The cuffs are well-designed, and the front side zippers help regulate tempeature when the weather warms up. The back pockets are amply sized and the zipped back pocket works well. A minor request in the next upgrade would be to have bigger zippers or at least ones easier to open/close with gloved hands. Other than that I am perfectly satisfied with it.
Great quality materials. Fit is good. Works well to stop cold winds. No need to spend a lot more on branded clothing.
Excellent quality, but the fit is a bit more tight than other Merlin Wear clothes
Excellent jacket, fit is very good. Has kept me warm on the winter commutes
This jacket is superb!
It will handle temperatures below 5c, if worn with a couple of baselayers and a long-sleeved jersey underneath. I found I started to feel the cold when temperatures got near freezing though.
The three pockets on the back are plenty big enough to carry everything you'll need for a day on the bike. Including a rolled up waterproof jacket.
The fit is snug; figure-hugging raceware snug. I have very broad shoulders, so often find the sleeves on long-sleeve tops and jackets on the short side, but these are perfect. It is also long enough at the back so it doesn't ride up. I am 6' tall with a 42" chest and slim build. The XL (the size I usually buy for cycle clothing) fits like a glove.
This is the best bit of kit I have bought this winter!
Another good fitting thermal jacket with smart price point, used in conditions down south circa 2 > 3 degree C and it is nice and snug and warm.
Good value jacket, warm and kept out the wind and showers on my latest ride.
Nice quality product at a great price. Definitely order up one size from your normal. I'm 6' 3 , 88 kilos and definitely needed the 2XL (I originally ordered my normal XL size , it was a snug 'race fit' but the body length was really too short. I usually place a lesser value to the body height sizing and concentrate on the chest and waist sizes chart : My mistake, in this case it really made a difference to the overall fit).
Excellent piece of kit. Utterly windproof and very comfortable. Unbeatable at this price - better than much more expensive brands.
Took a chance on the house brand jacket and am really impressed. I've worn it a few times now and was it was perfect with a base layer down to about 35F. Good wind protection, breathes well, nicely fitted, and bonus features (secure pockets, wind stopping flap behind zipper, reflective bits). Also great that it is black to hide the occasional road spray.
5 stars for the jacket itself: This seems to be made of sturdy construction and looked sharp. 4 stars for the sizing chart: I am a large in all my Merlin apparel but for some reason this jacket seemed to run a bit small. I think it might have to do with the thicker and less elastic fabric or the fact that the garment is sized without consideration for a layer underneath. Either way, I would definitely take your normal jersey size for Merlin wear and go up one before purchasing.
