Herts Roadie Great puncture proof winter tyres. If you regularly check for flints and keep tyres at correct pressure it won’t be you by the roadside changing a tube even in the muckiest conditions. Bugger to first put on though. Have another pair of hands willing to help for the final rollover. They’re worth it.
Paul Great tyres. Normally ride gator skins 23mm. Tried 25 mm much more comfortable and this brand gives more grip in the wet.
Mr Smart I have used these tyres on my commuter/ training bike for several years. They're not the lightest tyre but they ride well and I have found them pretty bomb proof.
Mr Sinclair Good price. Delivered quickly. No issues with grip and no puncture so far. A challenge to put on so would probably order the rigid version next time.
Mr Lister Feels quite slow compared some proper racing tyres and has quite a wooden feel which maybe from going to 25c to 23c widths. No punctures yet though and grip is pretty good and had a lot of frost and rain over past couple of weeks.
Mr Moller No puncture during the wintertime. Third winter with the same set of tyres
Mr Ogilvie excellent tyres ; minimal punctures ; good price
Pedro Quality tyre, I’ve ridden over the last 3 winters on my previous ones with no punctures. Relatively easy to fit .
Mr Taylor Always happy with these tyres in terms or durability for winter riding.
Mr Lamping First time with Merlin. Excellent
Christopher No punctures in about 135 miles of commuting in the bike line and gutter. I was getting around 1-2 flats per week with brand new Vittoria Zaffiros on the same commute. I actually like the Zaffiros for non-commute rides and didnt have issues with flats - I think its a product of riding in the bike lane for ~90 of my daily commute (~26 miles). Thus, while its a small sample size, I would have normally gotten 1-2 flats over the same period versus none thus far. These tires are really slow and bulky but it means I can consistently commute to work without changing a tire and thats my main goal. Aerage about 1 MPH slower on commute than on the zaffiros (Garmin says about 16-17 with stoplights when i used zaffiros but now Im getting about 15-16. No powe meter, only GPS averages). They were surprisingly easy to mount compared to the marathon plus tires I ran on my touring bike. Grip seems better than I expected. The smart guard layer definitely makes the tire feel soft even at 110 PSI. While it soaks up some road vibraton it also feels, well, soft. Hard to really explain because its not exactly like riding on an underinflated tire, its just different. I dont have the same road feel, if you know what I mean. Its an acceptable trade off, however, as I can have a much more predicable commute. Unless something changes, I expect to continue purchasing these in the future for commuting purposes.
Cyclist 101 Using a pair of these tyres for 4500km and only had one puncture. Probably can cycle another 1500km. Recommended for touring.
GKnight Great puncture/scratch resistance and perfect for enduring the winter commute to London everyday.
Mr KIRPSON-COLLEY They do what they say they do. Did over 8000km on my rear tyre before replacing it and only got 2 punctures during that period and that was only in the last couple of months.
David Really great tyres for the winter. Plenty of grip and puncture resistance. OK, they are not the fastest tyres, but for winter miles they are faster than fixing punctures!
Mr R Had these on an number of occasions previously. Heavy at 340g a tyre but for a British winter on country roads these are perfect,. Nothing is puncture proof but these are as close as you will get. Did the entire of winter 2018 on these without a single flat
Michael I switched over to these as my commuting tires when my Vittoria Rubino Pro's suffered fatal slices (to the tires, not me) twice in a month. I didn't want to keep spending money like that so I went with these. What a difference! They're not puncture-proof but they do put up with a lot. Note that these are heavier than usual so you might want to start out with a couple of easy rides with them. I didn't and I actually strained both calves a bit. On the bright side, if you switch over to racing tires you're going to be flying on race day!
Mr Tipper A great tyre that combines very high puncture protection without excessively compromising performance. I know 5 people who use this tyre and not one has reported a puncture.
Mr Spanggaard Been using this for Year, it is not "puncture free", it is not cheap, it is heavier than other tyres, but this "Grandfather tyre gives You very few punctures and many miles.
Mr Rebello Gold medal for this tyres!
Mr dickson Fantastic product but hard to fit, hopefully won`t puncture much so won`t have to remove them too often Merlin have best price and fast delivery
