DUXBURYExcellent for when you don't want a full off road tyre, but still need confidence cornering on loose / muddy ground. Very smooth on tarmac meaning much less rolling resistance.
SurfingJCsQuite heavy weight but hopefully no winter punctures. Fast rolling on hard packed surface
RossGreat commuter tyre. Also did well with an impromptu off road section too.
Mr BrownLooks knobbly, but much smoother on the road with good cornering edges. Great buy at this price.
Mr BrammahBought for my son's bike as he does quite a bit of road cycling on his MTB. He's been really impressed with these, they run quieter than his previous Panaracer tyres and are quieter on asphalt, which he prefers.
Mr JonesI am pleased with this tyre so far. I'm using it on the rear, and it went onto my rim easily, seating readily. It rolls surprisingly well on tarmac, and I don't really notice the weight increase over the Continental Sport Contact it replaced. I have not tried it off-road yet, beyond some fire-trail and tow-path, where it coped admirably and I imagine it will cope well with most non-technical riding. It should certainly cope better with wet clay and deep mud than the small-block tyres often used for mixed on/off road cycling. I've had no punctures yet, but it's early days. I just hope it lasts better than its predecessor, the Continental which was showing canvas after just 397 tarmac only miles (I was using a training diary so recorded every mile). The Conti rolled very well, and I had no punctures, but I cannot believe how quickly it wore out. It was seriously worn all round, so it was not due to a grabbing rim, and I gave up skidding nearly 60 years ago!
DowsterExcellent value and a good road/off road. Mainly I use it on road where I found the tyres to be quick and very quiet
Mr DenmanEasy to fit, roll well, good commuter tyre.
Agent SmithThese tyres are a bit of a revelation. Off road, they positively shine - rolling quickly and effortlessly along fast single track and byways, and performs well in sand and loose dirt. On road, they stop short of being quite as first as true semi-slicks, but in terms of speed are only a nats-whisker slower. I recently cycled the Peddars Way, with light panniers, using these and suffered no punctures - only smiles - en route. While on the return road journey, they were quick, comfortable and dependable. A bargain for the price.
Mr DaviesJust put them on last night, first trip out this morning. They seem fairly fast. Will be better round corners when the rubber seam down the middle wears off!
Mr GayI have only had the tyres on for 2 weeks but in that time I have found them to be excellent. They roll very well on the road and on gravel and mud paths I have found that they grip very well. I dont know about puncture protection but only time will tell. Highly recommended.
Mr beckwithGot these to supplement a pair of conti verticals due to the amount of road work, so far great a lot quieter on the road and almost on a par off road as far as grip concerned. A good price coupled with merlin's usual service and speedy delivery what's not to like?
Mr redmanGreat tyre for the price. Rides like a road tyre but with the added ability of going XC I will be buying these again for sure.
Mr mackgood tyre, good price, extremely quick delivery.
AlanGreat tyre and 'puncture proof'. Ideal for road use.
Mr RichingsGood rolling tyre for every day use on a mixture of surfaces
