Mr CrookExcellent price and very quick service. Great cross country wheels for every day use. Shimano hubs last for years with a little bit of looking after. Stans rims are also easy to set up tube less. For the money I could not find a better pair of wheels.
Mr PagePerfect for my new build and at an amazing price, these rims are solid and yet so light. Took a while to find the right rims and these rims were well worth the search, definitely worth considering if you're looking for a solid, lightweight rim that you know is up for anything
Mr PearsonAn absolutely fantastic wheelset at any any price. Merlin built my last wheelset Mavic X517 on XT 20 years ago and they have been faultless and true with hard riding on my rigid Titanium bike for the last 20 years. Merlin are top wheel builders. I chose this wheelset because the Deore hubs have larger 6mm ball bearing wheel bearings (XT are smaller) and this type is easy to serive and replace balls if ever needed. No tools and special bearings if your ever stuck one weekend. Easy to adjust to get them smooth as silk. I packed extra greese into mine after arrival. The wheels were perfectly true, all spokes nice and tight and the Stans ZTR rims lubed for good wheelbuilding. These wheels use normal spokes which are easy to find if your ever stuck at a trail center and 32 means a decent number so they should take a normal mans weight. Tried and tested. The Stans rims are about 350g, so uber light right where you want it and tubeless ready for those dropping tubes. The weight of the hubs is in part due to the steel shimano freehub. I'm fine with this, as alloy ones can score, and can be expensive to replace unlike the Shimano part which just bolts on and off.
Mr NicholsonExcellent service from Merlin. Great lightweight wheels for my HT. Delivery pretty quick for hand built product. Even feel faster too lol!
weekend warriorI have ridden Merlin built wheels for a couple of years and have been very pleased their performance. Build quality is absolutely top notch! When I saw this wheelset I couldn't resist even if I really don't need it. It is really so cheap that even the m525 hubs seem high-end at this price! Haven't ridden them yet, but they feel very solid and seem to be build with the same concern that have made Merlin so well known for quality wheels.
Mr LackStan's valves and rim tape very asy to fit on the Stan's ZTR Olympic handbuilt wheels I purchased from Merlin. Worked first time with Stan's sealant and Specialized 'Ground Control 'and 'Captain' '2Bliss' tyres. Merlin are brilliant, with great porducts, bargain prices and instant delivery. Very highly recommended.
